In Collaboration with Cinecitt\u00e0, Cinema Italy will bring a series of four films that participated to the David di Donatello Awards in 2022 – FREE and open to the public in the weekend of October 14th and 15th.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ITALIAN SCREENS is a Special Event that is brought to you by The Italian Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cinecitt\u00e0, The Academy of Italian Cinema – David di Donatello Award and the Consulate General of Italy in Miami.<\/span><\/h5>\n

The Plaza Theatre, 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE Atlanta 30306, will serve as backdrop for this free event opening on Saturday October 14 with the films \u201cLa Stranezza\u201d at 2:00pm and \u201cSettembre\u201d at 4:00pm and on Sunday October 15 with the film \u201cSiccita\u201d at 2:00pm and concluding with \u201cTi Mangio il Cuore\u201d at 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

No ticket purchase is necessary but arrive early as seating is on a first come, first served basis.<\/p>\n

La Stranezza<\/strong>

\nWhere did Pirandello get the idea for \u201cSix Characters in Search of an Author\u201d? Thanks to two gravediggers from Girgenti (which in 1920 was not yet called Agrigento), who forget the work they do by writing and performing irresistible farces with their scruffy company, whom the playwright met in Sicily in 1920. One day, something unexpected disrupted their performance, and Pirandello duly took note. After The Stolen Caravaggio, And\u00f2 continues to blend invention and history, fiction and reality, theatre and life. Bringing face to face actors beloved by the spectators but who have never worked together before: Toni Servillo in the role of Pirandello, Ficarra and Picone in those of Onofrio and Sebastiano, at the center of an exceptional cast.<\/p>\n

\nOctober 14th at 4:00pm<\/strong>
\nMaria (Margherita Rebeggiani) is a reserved teen. The boy she likes has just asked her to go to bed with him. She accepts but isn\u2019t sure where to start, so her school friend Sergio (Luca Nozzoli) offers to give her a few sex lessons, leading to a special friendship. Sergio\u2019s mother Francesca (Barbara Ronchi) learns she has a health issue but doesn\u2019t feel the need to tell her husband Alberto (Andrea Sartoretti) about it, given that she\u2019s been more or less invisible in his eyes for some time now. Francesca finds comfort in the arms of her best friend Debora (Thony), but their relationship soon blossoms into something new and unexpected. Francesca\u2019s doctor Guglielmo (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) is suffering some sort of post-divorce apathy and the only person he likes spending time with, at night, is young sex worker Ana (Croatia\u2019s Tesa Litvan) who, for her part, is falling in love with her sweet-natured baker contemporary Matteo (Enrico Borello); this young woman\u2019s capacity for dreaming, in spite of everything, rouses Guglielmo from his torpor and inspires him to change tack.<\/p>\n

\nOctober 15th at 2:00pm<\/strong>
\nRome, Italy. The drought has been parching the city for three years now, and the lack of water has changed everybody\u2019s life. While strict rules add to people\u2019s misery, odd characters roam the streets of the capital. Outcasts, achievers, victims, and wrongdoers are all part of the same tragic picture, and they are all after the same thing: redemption. In a future not too distant from the present. Imagining several different stories, each allowed to proceed independently, in the manner of the ensemble cast movie, which we gradually discover to be linked to one another in a broader scenario. A gallery of equally innocent and guilty characters, a frightened, troubled humanity, afflicted by the aridity of its relationships, tormented by vanity, mythomania and rage, making their way around a city with a glorious past like Rome, which is falling apart and \u201cdying of thirst and somnolence.<\/p>\n

An old feud between two rival families is rekindled by a forbidden love: the one between Andrea, reluctant heir of the Malatesta, and Marilena, beautiful wife of the boss of the Camporeale clan. A fatal passion that sets the two clans at war again.
